The Music of Celtic Womanby Beverly Krebs October, 2007
My heart has been joyous and glad of late
For a corner of Heaven I've found - 'Tis as the joy of a child's embrace, This new "pathway to happiness" sound.
Sweeter than freshness that comes with a summer rain
Or the song that the sparrow sings Is the wonder of Celtic Woman And the joy that their music brings.
Have you ever seen a mountain sunset,
Or the sparkling morning dew? Felt the thrill of a moonlit snowfall? Known a love that is honest and true? If you could hear a symphony in silver And feel the embrace of angel's wings, If you know Celtic Woman, Then you have known these things.
Yes, my heart has found a new rhythm A smile in my soul is anew, And it's because of you, Celtic Woman - Thanks for all of the joy that is you!

The Story Behind the Poem
My husband and daughter and I had tickets to the first night's concert of CW's Charlotte concerts in 2007. I was so excited to be going to see them in person! I had been watching their DVD's and listening to their CD's over and over, it gave me such joy to hear their music. I have always written poetry as a way of expressing what I am feeling. It is not a hobby or anything, but just a part of who I am. If I didn't write down the words that come into my heart, I think I would explode. So it is just something that comes natural to me and I do it because I must! (Sort of like breathing!)
So I was trying to figure out a way to let CW know how much happiness their music had given me. When my husband was on active duty in the military, and was gone for a long time, it was a haven for me to hear the music that made me happy. Many of the songs' lyrics spoke to my heart and gave me comfort. I felt so strongly that I wanted to somehow show the girls what that meant to me. I knew that they had millions of fans, all probably wanting to meet the girls or get an autograph or something. I wanted to do something special - something that would be more of a gift from my heart. I automatically thought first of writing them a poem. I sat down and it just came to me. It is as if the words were already there, waiting for me to let them out of my pen!
At the concert, I asked some of the Celtic Woman Forum members who I should talk to to find out who could get a message to the girls. They told me they had a stage manager named Rachel, and that she could probably help me. After the concert (which I can't even describe, it was so wonderful!) I could not find her, but found a stage hand who promised to give the poem to her. I had made enough copies for all the girls to have one, plus some extra copies. I left them with him, hoping he would not forget. When we left and were on our way home, it was so amazing that we wound up behind some of the CW busses. We saw them turn into a local hotel and I asked my husband to stop and let me ask one of the ladies standing near the busses if Rachel had been given the poems. Luckily, Rachel was the person I was talking to! She said that she would indeed give the poems to the girls. I asked her if she would mind having my 8 X 10 photo of the girls signed for me. She told me if we came back the next night, she would have it signed and ready for me to pick up. We really didn't have the money for another concert, but I think my husband saw the look on my face and realized how much that would mean to me, so he agreed. We did attend the concert the next night, and I received the personal autograph. I am so grateful to the CW staff for this. I have it framed and along side the poster of the girls in my room at home. I hope that you will enjoy this poem. This is the first time I have shared it with anyone other than friends and family. I am just glad to give other CW fans a chance to read it. It totally came from my heart.
God bless you all, Beverly Krebs |
